Subject ELCD ( equal level conversion double ) . Requirements for ELCD are : shortness in Club, 5+ diamonds , 4 cards in the unbid major and 12+ HCP. The question is : how many times in a year would one have a hand fulfilling such requirements ? It might happen , perhaps on Xmas but not every year I think. Frequency wise this treatment reminds me of Flannery convention : when you have the right hand it is usefull but you almost never do…

Yes Turbo, agreed that after opponent makes an opening bid, holding a two suited shape that’s short in opponents suit as well as Clubs doesn’t come up all that often. And when the overcaller holds a hand with two 5+ card suits, often the better tool is using Michael’s cuebid or Unusual 2 Notrump. Experience shows ELCD usage is even less than the Flannery convention (5=4=?=? shape, less than 17 HCP), yet many high level tournament players find a time and place to use Equal Level Conversion Doubles. My sense is that until a serious Bridge player reaches 1,000 masterpoints and plays with a regular partner, the ELCD treatment probably doesn’t need to be played (unless they’re trying to impress an opponent when the overcaller doubles, advancer bids 2C, and overcaller bids a new suit).
      Happy trails, Michael
