All Purpose Cuebid - The generalized approach by responder (or advancer) that the forcing cuebid of opponent's suit enquires partner for additional information.  At this point, the responder's holdings are ambiguous other than to show game interesting by making a forcing bid.

Bidding

Meaning

1D - (P) - 1H - (1S);
P   - (P) - 2S

2S queries opener for further information, particularly after opener's Forcing Pass

(1D) - X - (P) - 2D

2D asks partner for additional information about strength and identification of longer major suit.  The advancer may have a strong opening hand with a good suit, choosing to keep bidding low to find the best fit.

1C - (1H) - X - (P);
2H

2H rebid by opener shows additional values, querying doubling responder for additional information.
