{"id":219,"date":"2010-10-24T04:37:11","date_gmt":"2010-10-24T04:37:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bridgehands.com\/bridgeblog\/?p=219"},"modified":"2010-10-25T03:49:48","modified_gmt":"2010-10-25T03:49:48","slug":"bridge-online-university-team-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgehands.com\/bridgeblog\/?p=219","title":{"rendered":"Bridge Online University Team Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you can&#8217;t beat them, join em!\u00a0 Back in the 1930s (or so I am told) during the great depression, our Bridge game was king.\u00a0 With few distractions from radio and no television or internet, Bridge was the most fun you could have this side of\u00a0 the price for a few decks of cards.\u00a0 Fast forward 80 years and the internet is &#8220;where it&#8217;s at&#8221; for youth and young adults.\u00a0 Internet games are a hip as ever, but these days the latest buzz is &#8220;First Person Shooters&#8221; and &#8220;Massive Multi-user Online Games.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 So is there a place left for our old fashion Bridge card game?<\/p>\n<p>Absolutely yes, if the good folks at Online University Championship have to say anything about it!\u00a0 Using Bridge Base Online, each country has representative teams to play against one another in the virtual world of the Internet.\u00a0 Playing on BBO, 16 teams teams from 4 continents duke it out for fame, their college,\u00a0and country.<\/p>\n<p>The first online University Teams Championships were held in 2008 \/ 2009, attended by 16 teams from 4 continents.
