Ripstra - Simlar to the Landy convention used, showing 8+ cards in the major suits.  While Landy uses 2C to show the majors, Ripstra uses 2C only when the Club suit is longer than the Diamond suit.

If the Ripstra bidder has a longer Diamond suit (and 8+ cards in the majors), 2D would be the correct bid. Thus, Ripstra effectively shows a 3-suited hand, implying shortage in the unbid minor. 

Many find this small benefit not worth losing the 2D bid for other purposes.  Thus, Ripstra does not have a strong following.
